This unique full-service venue and cooking school in the Gramercy/Flatiron neighborhood of Manhattan consists of 42,000 square feet of event space spread over five floors. The warm, inviting and inspiring educational facility runs the most successful private cooking event program in the nation, offering events that are perfect for New York City corporate entertaining, team building and closing dinners, or for personal celebrations such as birthdays, rehearsal dinners, or special reunions. Combining the best elements of a cocktail party, a cooking class and an informal banquet, the facility's cooking parties are an easy, seamless option when you want to celebrate with and entertain a group. Group events can be lunches or dinners, and typically last three-and-a-half hours. Private dining rooms and custom menus are also available for various types of luncheons, dinners or cocktail events.
Private Dining (Lunch and Dinner)
A typical private group event, available for intimate groups of 16 or larger parties of up to 100, begins with an open bar of wine and beer and an hour of passed hors d'oeuvres in the new 6th floor private dining room. Then, you and your guests will be invited to sit down and enjoy a full-service three or four course meal prepared by venue's talented culinary team.
Hands-On Cooking Events
In addition to its regularly scheduled classes, the school runs a unique and fun private cooking party event program for groups of 12 to 90 guests. These special events are great for corporate team building or entertaining in New York City, as well as personal celebrations, such as NYC birthdays, anniversaries, bachelor and bachelorette parties, bridal showers, and special reunions. The format is a lunch or dinner where cooking is part of the entertainment. A typical event runs 3 to 3 1/2 hours: 1/2 hour for wine and hors d’oeuvres, 1 to 1 1/2 hours of cooking, then a sit-down, full-service three-course dinner where you all enjoy the meal you’ve made. While you will not cook from scratch, you will learn specific techniques, and the chef-instructors and assistants will be on hand to guide you. The staff is prepared for both the eager novice and the experienced home cook. The school’s atmosphere lends itself to learning and participation leavened with fun!
Private NYC Wine Tasting, Beer Tasting and Mixology Classes
These two-hour events begin with a hearty cheese platter, served with an aperitif appropriate to your theme. Your instructor will then invite you to sit down for a tasting of selected wines or beers. This fast-paced 90-minute presentation will focus on evaluating wine or beer for quality, taste and style. Eight varieties will be sampled. Typical topics include Italian wines, Champagne or Microbrewery Beers.
Celebrity Chef Events
The venue can arrange a culinary extravaganza for you and your clients or friends. They'll bring in one of the country's hottest chefs to prepare a fabulous dinner especially for your group. You'll learn secrets, get a chance to ask the questions you've always wanted to ask, and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime meal. You'll begin with passed hors d'oeuvres and end with a full-service, sit-down lunch or dinner, including wine. Two formats are available: Hands-On, where you and your guests actually don aprons and work side-by-side to help the chef with the cooking or Demonstration, where your group watches and listens while your chef cooks dinner right in front of you.
The school's facilities include twelve teaching kitchens and four traditional classrooms, all outfitted with optimum equipment. The Demonstration Kitchen is perfect for press events and large parties, equipped with a full-sized overhead mirror which reflects 16 burners and 2 separate workstations. The kitchen has four convection ovens, ample refrigeration space, and microphone capabilities. An additional pantry kitchen out of view in the back is equipped with two additional ovens, ten more burners and more refrigeration. This room can seat up to 84 people at round tables or 65 classroom style, or can be combined with our foyer area to hold a cocktail party for up to 150.
The Function Rooms are perfect for sit-down dinner parties, wine tastings, seminars, or meetings for a maximum of 90 people seated at rounds or for a cocktail party for up to 150 people. Depending on availability, a prep/galley kitchen is available at an additional cost.
