Located on the border of Midtown East and the Upper East Side of Manhattan, with proximity to Central Park, Bloomingdale’s and Barneys New York, this organic Greek/Mediterranean restaurant supports sustainable farming, viticulture and design. Already profiled in Vogue, the Wall Street Journal, Gotham Magazine and the New York Daily News for its holistic sustainable approach to dining, the Greek restaurant is fortunate to have received several critical awards since its November 2011 opening, including recognition by Wine & Spirits Magazine and Wine Spectator. Its cuisine draws inspiration from the classic ingredients, distinctive flavors and traditional dishes that form the Mediterranean dining tradition, from the Bosporus through Italy and along the Mediterranean coast to Spain.
The Food
This UES restaurant's menu is inspired by the dining tradition shared by Mediterranean cultures but rarely seen in American restaurants. Like the Mediterranean way of life, the menu highlights seasonal vegetables, whole grains, olive oil, cheese, lamb and fish – ingredients vital to the Mediterranean tradition but which are sourced from local purveyors who practice responsible farming. As codified by the United Nations, this culinary tradition is rooted in a respect for terroir and biodiversity. Accordingly, the restaurant's cuisine is influenced by the flavor profiles and culinary traditions of the Iberian Peninsula, Italy and Greece.

The cocktail list includes classic Mediterranean drinks (a selection of negronis and sangria) and unique spirits (mastic liquor from Chios, arak from Lebanon) as well as market-driven cocktails. The restaurant even makes its own fresh sodas and infuses its own spirits.

The Design
The décor of this Midtown East/Upper East Side restaurant's various private dining rooms incorporates archetypal elements of Mediterranean household design -- marble, plaster, wood, shutters and chiaroscuro. Almost all the materials inside the space are repurposed from New York City buildings – for example, the tables are made from 150-year-old pine the restaurant repurposed from its own ceiling.
